Born under the high-summer arctic sun, and raised in a land commanded by the seductive rule of Mother Nature, Dagný is a true Viking at heart. She firmly believes in Elves, Trolls, and the other supernatural forces that her people credit for Iceland’s mind-bending natural wonders.
Dagný’s insatiable urge to explore the world for new treasures and cultures is true to her Nordic heritage. She has spent a good deal of her life overseas working, traveling and playing in the outdoors. She studied languages and business communications in Australia and Denmark and holds a Master’s degree in marketing and international business from the University of Iceland.
Dagný’s passion for travel and the outdoors naturally led her into adventure tourism. She has acquired travel expertise through various jobs behind the desk and in the field, from sales and marketing to planning and guiding adventure trips all around Iceland. Dagný has worked on small expedition vessels since 2014 as a naturalist and cultural expert in the Arctic and Scandinavia. In more recent years Dagný has sailed extensively in Antarctic waters, where she has served as logistics co-ordinator and paddlesports guide.
The pandemic of Spring 2020 saw Dagný landlocked in British Columbia, Canada, where she has been pursuing her passions for mountain biking, skiing, and kayaking. She splits her time between teaching mountain bikers of all ages on Vancouver’s famous North Shore trails, and guiding heli-kayaking trips on secluded alpine lakes. She is a keen photographer and recently launched a photography website to share her work with the world. By land or sea, Dagný loves sharing stories and traditions of her homeland with fellow travelers.
As the good saying goes, you can take the girl out of Iceland but you can’t take Iceland out of the girl!
